The original Gaylord Social Athletic Club (SAC) started on Taylor and Ashland, Chicago Gaylords. We were not a gang and never got into any fights with other clubs, we were an authentic social club, participating in, baseball, football, bowling, basketball, dances, etc. We started on Ashland near Taylor Street in Chicago in a basement rented apartment. In the early 50's we eventually found another club that we rented on Polk and Miller. The time frame was 1954 until we gave up the club house on Polk about 1964 or 1965. The link between the Gaylords SAC and the club house on Huron and Noble is sketchy. Both the Grand and Noble and the Taylor and Ashland clubs were in operation in the 1950's.
A Taylor Street Gaylord had this to say: The Gaylords Social Athletic Club (SAC) circa 1956-57 Claimed Polk and Miller. They were amongst many SAC the claimed corners along Taylor St.
